Excellent car waxJun 11, 2006
By Richard Eltzroth I used both the Step 2 and Step 3 of Meguiar's liguid wax/polish (didn't think I needed the Step 1 cleaner) and the combination provided the shiniest vehicle surface I've seen in quite a while. Even better than carnauba paste wax.
The Step 2 polish by itself is a good surface but the extra work of applying Step 3 is worth it; it's very noticeably shinier. And since both steps are liguid instead of paste, they go on faster than paste.
Try to find these on sale somewhere since the original price is high, but if you want a really shiny car, try both Step 2 and 3.

Non-aggressive almost to a fault - needs cleaner pre-applicationAug 01, 2010
By Richard Darling This is a VERY mild polish. If your finish is already nearly perfect it may be the right thing for you, but if there are even mild flaws in the finish (such as a stain from a bird dropping that was allowed to remain for too long), a more aggressive polish seems to be called for. I think the product description (and for that matter, the Meguiar's website) does not emphasize this enough. My cars live in real-world Vermont conditions - I've used the A2116 polish now on two, a silver '07 Honda and a dark blue '09 Miata - and I probably will not make the effort with this product again. On the silver car I had to go back over many areas with a more aggressive cleaner-polish (as it happens that was a Mothers product not Meguiar's) to remove traces of birds, bugs, and trees. On the plus side, there seems to be no tendency to leave swirl marks when properly applied. I used both hand application and the Meguiar DA.
LATER EDIT: In response to a batch of comments to the effect that I should use the full three-step Meguiar's process, starting with their cleaner, then the polish, then a wax, I did re-do the Miata taking this approach, and the result is outstanding. Existing swirls disappear and the shine is deep and generally spectacular. I've raised my rating from three stars to four. Not five, because I stand by my opinion that this requirement is not emphasized enough in Meguiar's literature, and I also note that although all three applications are easy in themselves (starting with a basically new-car finish), there is a lot of time involved. I'd hate to do this on a much larger vehicle.

Meguiar's A2116 Deep Crystal PolishSep 29, 2006
By Darrel I have purchased this product in the past only to see great results with Meguiar's deep crystal polish; "It Does What It Says" provides a deep dark glossy shine and has proven to last long, even after the polish has almost worn off it still beads, Great polish for the price

What this product does and doesn't doSep 12, 2011
By K and B This polish is the middle part of a 3 step process: clean, polish, protect. Let's look at each step.
Clean: This is for paint that has flaws, such as scratches, spider webbing, water spots, sap, bird droppings, stains, etc. If your paint has these problems, this polish will not fix it. You need to get a cleaner. For general use, Meguiar's Ultimate Compound is spectacular for fixing these paint problems. There are also other Meguiar's products for specific paint defects. If your paint if in good condition, you can skip this step.
Polish: This product is the middle step. It does not fix problems like scratches or stains. If you have these problems, use a cleaner or compound first. What this product will do is fill in some minor scratches which have already been cleaned or compounded. It will also give the paint more "pop." This product is not a protectant or substitute for wax. You need to wax on top of this.
Protect: The last step is to protect the paint, which generally means a wax (or a sealant). Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax is great.
Now that we know what it does and doesn't do, does it work? Sort of. I tried applying to half my hood, and had trouble telling the difference. Then I ran painters tape down the middle of the trunk and only did one side. Removed the tape, and I still had trouble telling the difference. This product does not make a dramatic difference, at least on my black car (the website states that it is "specially formulated for dark-colored cars", so it may make even less difference on light colored cars). However, although you can't clearly tell the difference, I think that collectively it adds a little more pop and wetness to the paint.
It's also worth noting that it is time consuming to apply. You can only apply in sections (which means doing it by hand) and you need to remove it quickly. It is slower to apply this than wax, and this product does not save you from waxing, so using it will add a good bit of time.
All in all, if you are willing to spend the time, this product will give you that extra bit of gloss. It will not make bad paint look good. It will not make a dramatic difference. It will, however, make properly cleaned paint sparkle more than just using wax alone.

DEEP CRYSTAL POLISHOct 16, 2010
By The Baron This products makes a grueling job, polishing and waxing a car, a little be easier to endure and do and it also looks like this product will last much longer than most competitive products so you don't have to polish and wax as often.
