5Great If this is what You WantFeb 21, 2010
By Charles
These are my favorite strings of all time. I have them on a Yamaha RBX200F (Full Scale Fretless Bass). Wow... I have been working on a lot of stuff for Double bass and these play nice, are kind to the fingers and have the Dead Sound that I am looking for. Definitely not for Funk. The Rotosound Web Site has sound samples listen prior to purchase.

5Wow!Dec 18, 2010
By Tony Medero
OK...short and simple. I will never buy different strings (brand, model) again! I have been looking for this exact feel for years. I was using D'Addario flatwounds (chrome), which I loved and still do. But I wanted to branch out and experiment. After going through several brands and types, I came across these in a bass guitar forum. Playing a lot of jazz, I need as minimal fret buzz as possible. At first, they might feel ackward to you but maybe not. Either way, you'll warm up to them quickly. Wait until you slide with these babies.

5Bass String HeavenJun 24, 2011
By Rick Johnson
Hi! I am an old school bass player.R&B,Blues, soul, country, and classic rock are my favforite types of music to play.I will never buy another brand of bass string again. These Rotosound 88's,are absolutely superior.I Love Them! They give my Luna acoustic electric bass, the soft, warm sound of a 50's stand up bass, but can also produce the the, driving sound of Motowns James Jamerson,or Tower Of Powers Roco Prestia,if need be.The black nynlon coating is easey on your fingers, and there is no fret noise. These strings are not meant to be played like guitar, but like bass the way bass should be.I highly recomend these strings for bassist's looking for that 60's sound.Rick Johnson,Livermore Ca.

5Great stringsNov 19, 2011
By iRay
Just installed these bad boys on my bass guitar...Im an a somewhat amateur bassist who needed a lower more beefy sound(since my genre is reggae ska). These strings did the job..so far. I have a Fender Squir p-bass n had issues with the stock strings which had a lot of noticeable (and annoying) buzz. With these strings, it helps a lot with being able to move up and down the fret board more easier and with less stress on my finger tips. Overall, great product just like ALL of the reviews said. Highly recommended to those that are looking for that "true" bass sound.

5Great for a modified guitarrón, too.Nov 10, 2010
By Coffee Drinker
I have a six-string guitarrón that has been highly modified for playing jazz double bass lines in upright position. Using these Rotosound 88s--and adding the 135 and 50 Rotosound 88s for the two outside strings--has given me the closest thing to a double bass sound that I think I could ever expect to achieve on a guitarrón--and I've tried many different types of strings. Admittedly, this is an unusual application for these strings. My guitarrón has only a 26" scale and I tune all of these strings up a fourth from what was intended on a bass guitar. Specifically, I have the 135 tuned to E1 (41.2Hz), the 115 tuned to A1, the 100 tuned to D2, the 75 tuned to G2, the 65 tuned to C3, and the 50 tuned to F3. These strings feel great, play great, and last.
